My favorite covers are when musicians make a song their own.  Taking something that is seen as being outside their comfort zone, and making it work for them.

Charles Butler is a banjo teacher and professional player.  His band, Charles Butler and Associates, primarily play bluegrass.  In fact, they do a really good Bill Monroe cover.
