Video: Does Anyone Want To Play 'Slavery: The Game'?

Yes, it looks real.  But, upon closer examination, it appears to be one sick joke.  As Joystiq noted, neither XBox or PS3 would release a video game with an AO (Adults Only) rating.  Also, the ESRB (Entertainment Software Ratings Board) has no release information for an upcoming title by the name of 'Slavery'.

Javelin Reds, the proposed developer of the game, doesn't exist.  But, as one commenter noted, "javelin reds" is an anagram of "de slavernij", which is slavery in Dutch.  The phone number associated with the developer goes to a voice mail at a Kentucky area phone number.  What is the story behind 'Slavery'?

Update:  Maybe I spoke too soon.  I noticed something odd when I embedded the video into the post.  The title of the video had changed.  I went to the video game's website, and, sure enough it was fake.  It turns out, the video is part of a viral advertising campaign.  The key was in the anagram of "Javelin Reds".  Dutch broadcaster NTR is broadcasting a series called 'De Slavernij', which is a documentary about the history of slavery and how it still exists in some parts of the world.  It debuts on September 18th.  Very clever campaign.

Two Games I Might Buy A Wii For

I don't own a Wii, but I do have a PS3 and an XBox 360.  The reason why I don't own a Wii is because Nintendo has had a history of neglecting the hardcore gamer and tends to focus their efforts toward the casual gamer and family demographic.  Their lineup for this holiday season is no exception.  There are two titles, however, that look like they may be worth investing in a Wii this Christmas.

First up is Michael Jackson: The Experience.  It's a dancing game(which automatically puts it in the "will probably be lame" stack), that has you move along with Michael on screen.  So far, Ubisoft, the game's developer, has announced ten original MJ tracks that will be featured in the game, including Smooth Criminal and Billie Jean.

Secondly, is Epic Mickey, a new game from Disney featuring Mickey Mouse.  The internet has been blowing up over this game for close to a year.  It's a Wii exclusive, and features an artistic style the likes of which have not been seen in a video game.  It's clean, fluid, and at times, dark.  Looks like it is geared more toward true gamers and not so much for the little kids.  It comes out November 30.

Add to that the release of Rock Band 3 and DJ Hero 2, and I'm going to have a laundry list of games and systems to give to Santa this year.  Now if I can just be a good boy until Christmas.

Takes More Talent Than 'Guitar Hero'

I came across this video a couple of days ago on a video game website. A soccer team in the U.K. modified a 'Guitar Hero'-type video game to see if they were able to put their own little spin on it.

Don't get me wrong. I am a huge fan of music based video games. I think they have done an amazing job of getting children interested in music and musical instruments in recent years. If not for games like 'Guitar Hero' and 'RockBand', school music programs would be suffering much more than what they already are. That interest is keeping them funded. I also think that those games are being played to an extent that children are no longer getting exercise. I am guilty of it too. That being said, I would like to see an 8 year old do this on expert and put it up on Youtube:
