Waterloo, Iowa, is the hometown of both Michele Bachmann and serial killer John Wayne Gacy.  Artist Dan Lacey has the above prints available on his Ebay page for $20.00 each.  While it's the scariest damn thing I've seen all day, artistically, it's quite good.

Why Can't This Be My Grandma?

Seriously.  I like the sound of "Grandma Jean".

Jean Argus, an 80 year old grandmother in Iowa, decided to speak out against House Joint Resolution 6, an amendment seeking to repeal that state's marriage equality law, and deny legal recognition for existing gay married couples.  This is her message:



She was inspired to say something after watching 19 year old Zach Wahl's impassioned speech regarding the strength of his family, during a public forum on the resolution.  If you missed it, here it is:



On February 1st, the Iowa House passed the resolution with a vote of 62-37.

The bill is now headed to the Democratic controlled Iowa Senate, where numerous Senators have vowed to block it from coming up to the floor for a vote.  Let's cross our fingers.
