Goodbye 2012, You Amazing, Crazy, Shit Stain Of A Year

Let's face it, 2012 sucked.  There's no other way to say it.  For a number of reasons (that I don't have the patience or time to explain) this year has, quite possibly, been the worst ever.  In regards to technology and world events, this year brought us a number of amazing moments.  For better or for worse, the morning brings us an opportunity to start over and try to make the world around us a better place.

By the way, I thought this was incredibly interesting.  At the :58 mark, when they're doing a search for "for a change", "Stop SOPA" comes up in the search results.

Mashup Monday - Year End Movie Edition

I usually share the year-end "Filmographies" of Gen Ip.  This year, I think Matt Shapiro has done a much better job at capturing the emotion of this year's films.  This is five minutes and fifty two seconds of brilliant editing work.  Enjoy.

Mashup Monday - End Of The Year Edition

Every December, YouTube is bombarded with year-end pop music mashups.  This is one of the better ones.  I particularly liked it because, as the video plays, the bottom of the screen lists what tracks are being mixed.  I can't say that I'm familiar with some of the songs in the video.  I certainly can't say that I'm a fan of some of them, either.  However, I can say that Daniel Kim has done a spectacular job.

In case you lost count, there were 55 tracks in eight minutes.

Will The Real Mitt Romney Please Stand Up? (Video)

I had a chance to see this video earlier today.  When I did, there were less than 100 views of it on YouTube.  By the time I got around to post this, there's more than 30,000.  Story of my life.

Until today, I never realized how monotone Romney is.  He lacks vocal inflection to such a degree that you can seamlessly edit portions of his speeches together.  Who would have thought that Mitt would become the world's next great white rapper?  Hell.  If Eminem is white, Mitt Romney glows in the dark...

"Every Mormon, swing your underwear.  Sing the chorus, Papa Bear."

Politically (In)correct Nail Polish Of The Day

My wife is a nail polish fiend.  I would estimate that she currently has nearly 300 bottles tucked away in a cabinet, which was specifically purchased to hold her collection.  As you can imagine, I've seen the gamut of bizarre names to describe the color of the polish in the bottle.

You may not know this, but there are a couple of manufacturers that specialize in colors designed for men.  One of my favorite makers is Manglaze.  They're a small company out of the Chicago area.  Just a couple of people.  They hand make all of their own products, still.

A little more than a year ago, I purchased a couple of colors from them for myself.  They were both in matte finish.  So, they were in no way glossy or sparkly.  And with names like "Matte is Murder" (black) and "Fuggen Ugly" (grey), you didn't feel too girly putting them on your fingers.

Well, I'm pleased to announce that they're recently debuted their latest color:  "Santorum".  You guessed it folks.  It's brown.

God bless America.

Isn't it a lovely "mix" of tones?
And yes, the bottle does read, "For Relaxing Times, Make It SANTORUM Time."

The color name is a limited edition.  From what I have read, once they sell out of their current stock of labels, they'll be changing the name of the product.  I'm buying a number of bottles this week.  One for personal use.  The others as keepsakes.  As the presidential race goes on, the value of this product is only going to go up.

At the moment, Manglaze is redesigning their website.  You can purchase a bottle of Santorum via Amazon.  Type in the code "OCCUPYME" at checkout and get 10% off the retail price.

Rick Santorum Speaks To CPAC (Video)

Yesterday, Rick Santorum made his case for President before attendees at CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference, held in Washington D.C.  The convention is the annual meeting place for right-wing nutjobs and their hate group supporters to shit on anything that supports women, minorities, or the LGBT community.

In addition to the booths from recognized anti-gay, anti-immigrant, anti-Islamic, and white supremacist organizations, Thursday's conference included a speech from the head of the NAACPC.  Yes.  There's and extra "C" there.  He said, "We have to eliminate the hyphens.  First and foremost, we are all Americans. We're not Indian Americans or African Americans or what have you."  Yeah.  It's because African-Americans are segregating themselves that we have such a problem in this country.  Not because of anti-minority organizations like the NAACPC.  Riiiiight.

So, as you could imagine, the folks in attendance yesterday loved Santorum.

I am going to post the video of his speech, in full.  I have to say, it took all I could muster to get through the 22 minutes of bullshit.  If you would rather skip it, here's an overview:

  • Obama is a fascist dictator.
  • Democrats are trying to shove birth control pills down our children's throats.
  • Scientists made up the idea of climate change.
  • Clean energy is a joke.
  • Higher energy consumption equals better living.
  • The government is not above god.
  • "Obamacare" goes against freedom of religion.

AND THE CROWD GOES WILD!!!!

At about 16:25 in the clip, Santorum ironically says that he supports the "Conservative vision of "Bottom up"".  Probably not the best phrase to use when your name is floating around the internet as an alternate definition regarding anal sex.  He used the "bottom up" phrase at least four times by my count.  How embarrassing.

As least he's not pimping his handicapped kid onstage like Sarah Palin used to.  That was beyond desperate.

Quote Of The Day

“Every barrel of oil that comes out of those sands in Canada is a barrel of oil that we don’t have to buy from a foreign source."
 - Rick Perry, speaking at a campaign stop in Clarinda, Iowa

And the home schooled crowd went wild...

Quote Of The Day

"All the Occupy movements start with the premise that we all owe them everything. They take over a public park they didn't pay for, to go nearby to use bathrooms they didn't pay for, to beg for food from places they don't want to pay for, to instruct those who are going to work to paying their taxes to sustain the bathrooms and sustain the park, so they can self-righteously explain that they are the paragons of virtue to which we owe everything. Now, that is a pretty good symptom of how much the left has collapsed as a moral system in this country, and why you need to reassert something as simple as: 'Go get a job, right after you take a bath.'"
- Newt Gingrich, at last night's Republican candidate debate discussion.

If you were watching the debate, you could tell that Gingrich was chomping at the bit, waiting for the right time to drop this scripted line.  This isn't the first time that he has stood on the side of the wealthiest of wealthy.  He has a history of railing against the unemployed and disenchanted.

Not only were his comments dead wrong about the Occupy movement, but nothing more than a soundbite he knew would make Fox News the next day.  As one website put it, "The second and longest sentence in that graf is meaningless -- it's just strung together, invective-flavored words".

Meanwhile, at Fox, the network is having a field day with recent developments in New York City...

Take a look at the way MSNBC covers Occupy Wall Street, compared to that of Fox News.  At the very end:  A breaking story from Wolf Blitzer on CNN.

Then again, Republicans believe that getting the HPV vaccine makes you mentally retarded.

Tweet Of The Day

In a campaign stop in Nashua, NH, Cain said to supporters that, "Who knows every detail of every country or every situation on the planet?  Nobody!  We've got plenty of experts.  We need a leader, not a reader."

Or, in his case, someone that watches the evening news, CNN or even 'The Daily Show'.  His quote is almost word for word of that said by President McBain, a parody of Arnold Schwarzenegger, in the Simpsons movie which came out in 2007:

Fox News' Chris Wallace Calls Out Rick Santorum On His DADT Arguments (Video)

After Sunday morning, I want to know, how in the hell is Chris Wallace still on Fox's payroll?

Wallace asked Santorum, a Republican candidate for President, and perhaps the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell's most outspoken critic, for some clarification on his position.  Democrats have compared him to those in the 1940s that have rallied against the inclusion of African-Americans in the armed forces.  Santorum insists that the repeal of the statute is experimenting with social policy.

In the clip below, Wallace asks the former Pennsylvania Senator if he would agree with the following words:
"The army is not a sociological laboratory.  The experimenting with army policy, especially in a time of war, would pose a danger to efficiency, discipline and morale and would result in ultimate defeat."
Watch the impending fail...

Rick Santorum is using the same line or reasoning concerning gays and lesbians in the military that many people used when it came to blacks in the armed forces nearly 70 years ago.  At that time, critics argued for segregated barracks, showers and restrooms.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.  Bravo to Chris Wallace for going against the status quo at Fox News and calling out Santorum on his bigoted, naive and backwards mindset.

The more sound bites I hear from Rick Santorum, the more I start to believe SNL.  He "seems confused and flabbergasted by modern day life.  It seems like if there were a time and place in history that best fit your values, it would be Salem, Mass, in 1692".

"Why stick your neck out and run for President, little guy?"

Herman Cain Leading GOP Polls, Sarah Palin Has No Idea Who He Is

Surprising news for the Cain campaign this week.  First, Herman Cain walked away with a win at the Florida straw poll on Sunday.  Taking nearly 40% of the vote, he won by a double digit margin over Rick Perry and Mitt Romney - the front runners of the Republican presidential race.  In modern political history, the winner of the Florida straw poll went on to become the Republican candidate chosen the following year at their national convention.

Then, on Monday, Zogby released a national poll amongst primary voters.  Again, Herman Cain was on top.

Another double digit lead ahead of Perry and Romney.  Some say that people are intrigued by Cain's 9-9-9 tax plan.  Coincidentally, the "9-9-9" is also the name of a specialty pizza available at Godfather's (joking).  Others say that the bickering between Perry and Romney have cost them their leads.

Does anyone take Herman Cain's chances seriously?  Take a look at this.  While complimenting him a couple of nights ago on Fox News, Sarah Palin called him the wrong name not once.  Not twice.  But five times.

Excuse me, Sarah.  It's HER-MAN CAIN.  Say it with me.  Her.  Man.  Caaaaaaaaaaain.

I realize this may just be an underhanded way of Palin trying to divert attention away from potential competition.  Later in the same interview, she was speaking as to whether she has made up her mind about running for President or not.  She actually had the balls to say that she believes she has more power now than what she would as President of the United States.

I also realize that Sarah Palin is an absolute moron.  This is the same woman that tried to re-write the story of Paul Revere.  If she doesn't have a teleprompter in front of her, there's no telling what she'll say.

Maybe she's so self absorbed, she honestly believes the GOP front runner is named Herb Cain.  Maybe she doesn't watch the news.  It makes sense to me.  George W. Bush was famous for saying that he didn't read the newspaper.  It would only be logical, 10 years later, to have a presidential candidate that didn't read the news at all.

Video: Herman Cain's 9/11 Tribute

Yesterday, Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain posted a tribute to the victims of 9/11 on his YouTube page.  It is, to say the least, insulting.  In the clip, Cain is singing 'God Bless America', while footage of planes hitting the towers of the World Trade Center are shown.  His backing track?  Screams.  The video ends with the words:

"WE MUST NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER FORGET - HERMAN CAIN - 09-11-11"

A quadruple negative?  This is someone that wants to be the President of the United States of America.  The video was paid for by "The Friends of Herman Cain", and ends with "Herman Cain - President 2012, hermancain.com".  So yes, this is technically a campaign ad.

Fucking disgusting.

Photo: The Spirit Of Waterloo

From The Art of Bachmann:

Waterloo, Iowa, is the hometown of both Michele Bachmann and serial killer John Wayne Gacy.  Artist Dan Lacey has the above prints available on his Ebay page for $20.00 each.  While it's the scariest damn thing I've seen all day, artistically, it's quite good.

Tweet Of The Day

As governor of Texas, Rick Perry has taken a very moderate stance in regards to illegal immigration.  He supported the DREAM Act.  He even sought ways to create a pathway to citizenship for those undocumented workers currently in the country.  Now that he is courting extremists like Arpaio, it's almost as if he's changing his belief system in order to get Republican support.

Interesting fact:  Between 2007 and June 2010, the United States deported a total of 115,841 illegal immigrants.  Arpaio's office was responsible for 26,146 of those deportations, a whopping  22.5%.  If that isn't extremist, I don't know what is.

Just go to http://my.barackobama.com/Bumper-Sticker, and tell them where to send it.  Shipping takes approximately four to six weeks.

Michele Bachmann Has A Bondage Fetish

A number of bloggers have noticed a trend with Michele Bachmann.  She likes to talk about slavery...a lot.  In fact, she has likened practically everything in the news to either slavery or bondage.  Take a look...

Links courtesy of I'm With Kanye:

A couple of weeks ago, Bachmann signed a pledge from The Family Leader.  It was a "Marriage Vow", that was against homosexuality, pornography, Sharia Law and even putting female soldiers into combat scenarios. The first paragraph of the vow said the following:
"Slavery had a disastrous impact on African-American families, yet sadly a child born into slavery in 1860 was more likely to be raised by his mother and father in a two-parent household than was an African-American baby born after the election of the USA's first African-American President."
Disgusting, right?  Well, when the media started ripping her apart for signing such a racist thing, Bachmann claimed that she didn't read that paragraph, depite the fact that it was at the top of the first page and bullet pointed.  Her camp said,
"She signed the 'candidate vow.' In no uncertain terms, Congresswoman Bachmann believes that slavery was horrible and economic enslavement is also horrible."
Could she have just apologized?  Did she have to liken our current economic condition to our nation's unforgivable history of rape, torture and brutality?  Really?

But that's not all.  As I have reported earlier, at a conference in November of 2004, Michelle Bachmann said the following in regards to homosexuality:
"If you're involved in the gay and lesbian lifestyle, it's bondage.  It is personal bondage, personal despair and personal enslavement.  And that's why this is so dangerous.  It's a very sad life.  It's part of Satan, I think, to say that it is gay.  It's anything but gay."
So, just to keep track, our economy and homosexuality are both slavery.  Let's not forget slavery slavery.  That's pretty bad, too.

When speaking to a crowd in Colorado in 2009, Bachmann said about the Health Care Reform bill:
"This is slavery…It’s nothing more than slavery.”
Again, with the slavery bit?  It didn't stop there.  In January of this year, in reference to the National Debt, she said:
“It is a slavery, it is a slavery that is a bondage to debt and a bondage to decline.”
I'm starting to think that she has a bit of a bondage fetish.  Freudian slip, maybe?  Stephen Colbert provides some insight on the topic:

Quote Of The Day

“My ability to function effectively will not affect my ability to serve as commander in chief.
- Michele Bachmann, in response to the latest revelations of her "incapacitating migraines".

Wait.  What?!  That sentence doesn't even make sense.  Well, if Dubya could serve as commander in chief for eight years and not function effectively even once, I guess it can be done.

I'm Batshit Crazy, And I Approve This Message

Don't you think it's going to be hard enough for Donald Trump to be elected President without Gary Busey helping out?  Busey officially endorsed Trump yesterday, and I'm sure President Obama is ever so grateful.
