Rick Santorum Speaks To CPAC (Video)

Yesterday, Rick Santorum made his case for President before attendees at CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference, held in Washington D.C.  The convention is the annual meeting place for right-wing nutjobs and their hate group supporters to shit on anything that supports women, minorities, or the LGBT community.

In addition to the booths from recognized anti-gay, anti-immigrant, anti-Islamic, and white supremacist organizations, Thursday's conference included a speech from the head of the NAACPC.  Yes.  There's and extra "C" there.  He said, "We have to eliminate the hyphens.  First and foremost, we are all Americans. We're not Indian Americans or African Americans or what have you."  Yeah.  It's because African-Americans are segregating themselves that we have such a problem in this country.  Not because of anti-minority organizations like the NAACPC.  Riiiiight.


So, as you could imagine, the folks in attendance yesterday loved Santorum.


I am going to post the video of his speech, in full.  I have to say, it took all I could muster to get through the 22 minutes of bullshit.  If you would rather skip it, here's an overview:

• Obama is a fascist dictator.
• Democrats are trying to shove birth control pills down our children's throats.
• Scientists made up the idea of climate change.

At about 16:25 in the clip, Santorum ironically says that he supports the "Conservative vision of "Bottom up"".  Probably not the best phrase to use when your name is floating around the internet as an alternate definition regarding anal sex.  He used the "bottom up" phrase at least four times by my count.  How embarrassing.


As least he's not pimping his handicapped kid onstage like Sarah Palin used to.  That was beyond desperate.

If you were watching the debate, you could tell that Gingrich was chomping at the bit, waiting for the right time to drop this scripted line.  This isn't the first time that he has stood on the side of the wealthiest of wealthy.  He has a history of railing against the unemployed and disenchanted.

Not only were his comments dead wrong about the Occupy movement, but nothing more than a soundbite he knew would make Fox News the next day.  As one website put it, "The second and longest sentence in that graf is meaningless -- it's just strung together, invective-flavored words".

Meanwhile, at Fox, the network is having a field day with recent developments in New York City...

In a campaign stop in Nashua, NH, Cain said to supporters that, "Who knows every detail of every country or every situation on the planet?  Nobody!  We've got plenty of experts.  We need a leader, not a reader."

Or, in his case, someone that watches the evening news, CNN or even 'The Daily Show'.  His quote is almost word for word of that said by President McBain, a parody of Arnold Schwarzenegger, in the Simpsons movie which came out in 2007:

- Herman Cain, responding to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's question on whether he favors a military strike against Iran.  If you remember correctly, it was during the same interview with the Journal Sentinel in which Mr. Cain said practically the exact same thing, verbatim, as to if he would have handled Libya differently than Obama.

"I need to hear the facts.  As much as possible.  I need to hear all the alternatives.  For example, you might have mentioned that, even within the administration, there were different views.  I would want to hear all of those views, look at all of the information, then I would make the decision as Commander In Chief." 

If you watch the interview, he's practically asking the reporter to fill him in on the events that took place in Libya over the last couple of months.  I'm not sure if he honestly knows if Gadhafi was a "good guy" or a "bad guy".  And apparently, he would want to get the opinion of the labor secretary and the transportation secretary to make sure they were on board with a military operation.



Oh.  One more thing.  During that interview, Cain said that a military attack on Iran would not be "practical", because the country has mountains.

That's right, we would not be able to bomb Iran's top scientific facilities or their weapons cache, because it appears that they're embedded in the mountains.  I think he's thinking of the Taliban...in Afghanistan.

Protest Sign Of The Day - Republicans Want To Create Jobs (For Your Fetuses)

This sign is from a Walk For Choice protest held in Gainesville, Florida, back in February.  Though it's eight months old, I thought it's message was especially poignant.

Last month, President Obama released The American Jobs Act, a bill that House Majority Leader Eric Cantor publicly called "dead" before it even reached Congress.  Last Thursday, the political party that has been shouting from the rooftops that job creation is their number one priority, spent the entire day debating a new bill.  Was it an alternative to President Obama's job's bill?  Was it an economic stimulus plan?

No.  It was an abortion bill.

The House of Representatives debated and passed the Protect Life Act.  Many critics call it the "Let Women Die Act".  The act essentially does two things.

One, it mandates that no tax payer funds go to fund abortions.  Essentially, they're making a law to back up an existing law.  It would be like Congress holding a special session to write up legislation making murder illegal.  It's already illegal.  Taxpayer money hasn't funded abortions since the early nineties.  They may as well have called this portion of the bill the "Act of Redundancy Act".

The bill also makes it illegal for women to buy health insurance plans for themselves that cover abortions under the Affordable Care Act, also known as the Obama Administration's Health Care Reform Act.

The most controversial and disturbing part of the legislation is in the freedoms it grants to health care providers.  Current law requires hospitals give patients in life threatening situations the care they need, regardless of financial situation or their moral stance.  The Protect Life Act would give an emergency room in, say a Catholic hospital, the right to refuse to perform an abortion on a patient, even if it meant that she would die as a result.

It's likely that the bill will not make it through the Democratic controlled Senate.  If, somehow it does, there is a strong chance that President Obama will veto this monstrosity if it ever reaches his desk.

As I was writing this article, something hit me.  Every single Republican presidential candidate says that their priority is "job creation".  In fact, there was a period of about three months where, regardless of what question you asked Michele Bachmann, she refused to answer it.  During every interview she said that 1.) She was running for the presidency of the United States, and 2.) she was "there to talk about job creation".  It was as if she was a prisoner of war, and she was giving her name, rank and serial number.



Interesting fact: Since announcing her run for the White House, Bachmann has missed 46% of the votes in Congress.  She hasn't cast a single vote, in fact, since the first of August.  Yet, on October 6th, she introduced a piece of legislation called The Heartbeat Informed Consent Act.  It requires abortion providers to show the fetus on an ultrasound to the mother, and play it's heartbeat before the abortion is performed.  Under the law, if the health care provider refuses to show the images or play the audio, they would be subject to a $100,000 fine.

According to Republicans, this is "job creation", folks.  And you wonder why there are thousands of people camped out in New York City.  What bullshit.

As If There Isn't Enough Crazy In The Republican Race, Ron Paul Has Fake Eyebrows? (Photo)

Since the Republican presidential candidates themselves offered nothing of substance at Tuesday night's debate, journalists have been left to ask the hard hitting questions facing America's leaders themselves.  Like, "What the fuck is going on with Ron Paul's eyebrow?"

If you look closely, it appears that his right eyebrow is falling off, and there is a smaller, less noticeable eyebrow underneath.  (I believe that's called moulting.  He's shedding his skin.)  It is unknown whether the image is the result of a cosmetic prosthesis, or a bizarre optical illusion.  In any event, with the lack of attention Paul's campaign has been getting in recent weeks, this latest development has been raising eyebrows.

When reached for comment, Paul's campaign spokesman Jesse Benton claimed that even the hinting of such cosmetic attempts "stupid" and "insulting".  He did say that "Dr. Paul's allergies acted up a touch".  I have no idea what that means in context to a question about fake eyebrows.  

Some suggest that Mr. Paul may be artificially enhancing his brow line to compete with the striking, bushy brows of rivals Rick Perry and Mitt Romney.  I personally find it hard to believe that someone would intentionally attempt to make themselves resemble your crazy estranged uncle.

On a personal note, I hole Ron Paul in the highest regard, and welcome our future alien overlords.  (I'm kidding of course.  On both counts.)

Fox News' Chris Wallace Calls Out Rick Santorum On His DADT Arguments (Video)

After Sunday morning, I want to know, how in the hell is Chris Wallace still on Fox's payroll?

Wallace asked Santorum, a Republican candidate for President, and perhaps the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell's most outspoken critic, for some clarification on his position.  Democrats have compared him to those in the 1940s that have rallied against the inclusion of African-Americans in the armed forces.  Santorum insists that the repeal of the statute is experimenting with social policy.

In the clip below, Wallace asks the former Pennsylvania Senator if he would agree with the following words:

"The army is not a sociological laboratory.  The experimenting with army policy, especially in a time of war, would pose a danger to efficiency, discipline and morale and would result in ultimate defeat."

Rick Santorum is using the same line or reasoning concerning gays and lesbians in the military that many people used when it came to blacks in the armed forces nearly 70 years ago.  At that time, critics argued for segregated barracks, showers and restrooms.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.  Bravo to Chris Wallace for going against the status quo at Fox News and calling out Santorum on his bigoted, naive and backwards mindset.

The more sound bites I hear from Rick Santorum, the more I start to believe SNL.  He "seems confused and flabbergasted by modern day life.  It seems like if there were a time and place in history that best fit your values, it would be Salem, Mass, in 1692".

Herman Cain Leading GOP Polls, Sarah Palin Has No Idea Who He Is

Surprising news for the Cain campaign this week.  First, Herman Cain walked away with a win at the Florida straw poll on Sunday.  Taking nearly 40% of the vote, he won by a double digit margin over Rick Perry and Mitt Romney - the front runners of the Republican presidential race.  In modern political history, the winner of the Florida straw poll went on to become the Republican candidate chosen the following year at their national convention.

Then, on Monday, Zogby released a national poll amongst primary voters.  Again, Herman Cain was on top.

Another double digit lead ahead of Perry and Romney.  Some say that people are intrigued by Cain's 9-9-9 tax plan.  Coincidentally, the "9-9-9" is also the name of a specialty pizza available at Godfather's (joking).  Others say that the bickering between Perry and Romney have cost them their leads.

Does anyone take Herman Cain's chances seriously?  Take a look at this.  While complimenting him a couple of nights ago on Fox News, Sarah Palin called him the wrong name not once.  Not twice.  But five times.



Excuse me, Sarah.  It's HER-MAN CAIN.  Say it with me.  Her.  Man.  Caaaaaaaaaaain.

I realize this may just be an underhanded way of Palin trying to divert attention away from potential competition.  Later in the same interview, she was speaking as to whether she has made up her mind about running for President or not.  She actually had the balls to say that she believes she has more power now than what she would as President of the United States.

I also realize that Sarah Palin is an absolute moron.  This is the same woman that tried to re-write the story of Paul Revere.  If she doesn't have a teleprompter in front of her, there's no telling what she'll say.

Maybe she's so self absorbed, she honestly believes the GOP front runner is named Herb Cain.  Maybe she doesn't watch the news.  It makes sense to me.  George W. Bush was famous for saying that he didn't read the newspaper.  It would only be logical, 10 years later, to have a presidential candidate that didn't read the news at all.

Today In "Are You Fucking Kidding Me?"

At last night's Republican Presidential debate, a question was asked by Stephen Hill, a gay soldier serving in Iraq.  At the time his question was submitted via YouTube, he would have had to have asked it anonymously.  However, since the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell went into effect on Tuesday, Hill is now able to serve openly.

He asked, "Under one of your presidencies, do you plan to circumvent the progress that has been made for gay and lesbian soldiers in the military?"

Of course the question went to Rick Santorum, who by far spews the most anti-gay rhetoric of all of the GOP candidates.  He said that "any type of sexual activity has no place in the military", which is true, but has absolutely nothing to do with allowing gays and lesbians to serve openly.  This is the man that said that gay marriage would lead to "man on dog" relationships.  In his mind, the repeal of DADT is an anal rape free-for-all in the barrack's showers.

What's worse?  Not one of the candidates spoke up to defend the soldier.  I don't care if you disagree with someone's lifestyle.  I don't care if you disagree with the policies of this administration.  I don't care if you disagree with the concept of war or the reasons why we are currently in the Middle East.  YOU DO NOT BOO A SOLDIER.  PERIOD.  Those men and women are risking their lives every day, doing a job that most Americans are unwilling to do.  What a vile thing to do.

Well, at least this time the crowd wasn't shouting to let the uninsured die:

Video: Herman Cain's 9/11 Tribute

Yesterday, Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain posted a tribute to the victims of 9/11 on his YouTube page.  It is, to say the least, insulting.  In the clip, Cain is singing 'God Bless America', while footage of planes hitting the towers of the World Trade Center are shown.  His backing track?  Screams.  The video ends with the words:

"WE MUST NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER FORGET - HERMAN CAIN - 09-11-11"


A quadruple negative?  This is someone that wants to be the President of the United States of America.  The video was paid for by "The Friends of Herman Cain", and ends with "Herman Cain - President 2012, hermancain.com".  So yes, this is technically a campaign ad.

Video: A Disturbing Moment Of Pride For Rick Perry

During last night's Republican debate on MSNBC, host Brian Williams asked Texas' Rick Perry about his state's record on capital punishment during his tenure as governor.  The question alone garnered the loudest response from the audience of the debate.



Ladies and Gentlemen, the Republican party of 2011...bloodthirsty savages.

And, for fuck's sake Perry, wipe that smug look off your face.  You remind me of Dubya.

As governor of Texas, Rick Perry has taken a very moderate stance in regards to illegal immigration.  He supported the DREAM Act.  He even sought ways to create a pathway to citizenship for those undocumented workers currently in the country.  Now that he is courting extremists like Arpaio, it's almost as if he's changing his belief system in order to get Republican support.

Interesting fact:  Between 2007 and June 2010, the United States deported a total of 115,841 illegal immigrants.  Arpaio's office was responsible for 26,146 of those deportations, a whopping  22.5%.  If that isn't extremist, I don't know what is.

You'll Never Guess What Tucson Area Republicans Are Raffling Off

On January 8, 2011, Jared Loughner approached a crowd that gathered at a meet and greet for Representative Gabrielle Giffords at a Tucson area Safeway parking lot.  He pulled out a 9mm Glock 19 handgun, and killed six people, including a nine year old girl and a federal judge.  He shot Giffords and twelve others.

Six and a half short months later, and the fine Republicans of Pima County, Arizona, decide to hold a raffle to raise money for the party.  Take a look at what's up for grabs.
