Our asshole of the week comes courtesy of one of my Facebook pages, Sluts For Obama 2012.  On June 6th, we received the following comment from gentleman and scholar, David Roach:

 

Apparently, he thinks Michelle Obama is the President of the United States.  So, I guess you have to take what he says with a grain of salt.  In fact, from this point forward, I'm going to refer to David "The Cock" Roach, and other trolls like him, as "Honey".  As in, "Oh, Honey".

Example:

Don't forget to vote this year, people.  Honey is voting.  So are hundreds of thousands of like-minded Honeys like him.

Each one of the blue dots is a zip code, in which someone contributed $200 or more to President Obama's campaign in 2008, but haven't donated in this election cycle.  The darker the dot, the more people in that zip code that have yet to re-up.

In '08, more than 550,000 people donated at least $200 to Obama's campaign.  So far this year, 88% of those donors, or 537,806 people have not made another $200 commitment. 

One thing is abundantly clear.  While Obama may very well be elected to a second term, the level of passion and excitement about the presidential election has plummeted.

Aaaand President Obama just secured the nerd vote.

The photo of the President, with 'Star Trek's' Nichelle Nichols, was taken in the Oval Office on February 29th.  Nichols is famously credited with having the first interracial kiss on television.  Her and William Shatner locked lips in a 'Star Trek' episode which aired on November 22, 1968.  

The 79-year-old actress credits Martin Luther King Jr. for her success in the legendary sci-fi series.  She once told him that she was contemplating leaving the show, in order to pursue a Broadway career.  King convinced her that for the first time, white viewers would see African-Americans as equals.  He asked her to continue with the series, so that women and children would have someone to look up to.

I would say she succeeded.

Watch Barack Obama's Vs. Herman Cain's Reaction To The Occupy Wall Street Movement

If my recollection is correct, today is the 16th or 17th day of Occupy Wall Street.  I tend to lose track of time.

Today, President Obama held a press conference to discuss the jobs bill that he is trying to get through Congress.  Eric Cantor has recently bragged that the bill will never be introduced on the House floor.  Essentially, today Obama told House Republicans to either come up with something better, or shut the hell up and pass the damn bill.  After making his statement, he took a number of questions from reporters.

A reporter asked the question, "Are you following the "Occupy Wall Street" movement, and how will you respond?".  This was his response:



In essence, he has seen reports of the protests on television, and people have a right to be upset.  People may disagree with me, but that's fair.  He's not exactly advocating for the dismantlement of the Federal Reserve, but he did sign into law the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform Act, which promises sweeping changes to be implemented in corporate America.  Due to stalling and roadblocks from the Republican side of the aisle, only 38 of the nearly 400 reforms have been implemented since the bill was signed last July.  All current Republican presidential candidates have publicly said that, if elected, they would repeal Dodd-Frank.

Yesterday, Herman Cain was asked by the Wall Street Journal about the movement.  First, he said that he believes that, while he can't prove it at this time, the Occupy Wall Street protests are secretly being orchestrated to divert attention from President Obama's failed economic policies?  He also said, and I'm quoting here:

"Don't blame the big banks.  Don't blame Wall Street.  If you don't have a job, and if you're not rich, blame yourself.  (Snip)  When I was growing up, I was blessed to have parents, that didn't teach me to be jealous of anybody, and didn't teach me to be envious of somebody.  It is not a person's fault if they succeeded.  It is a person's fault if they fail."

He does admit that the banks were responsible for the "economic crisis" that we went into in 2008.  But, according to Cain, "we're not in 2008, we're in 2011".  Obviously, he doesn't have the basic conceptual understanding of economics.  Just take a look at the clip.  The level of ignorance and apathy in the room can be cut with a knife.



So, in Herman Cain's mind, unemployment equates failure.  The millions of people that have been laid off since 2008 were failures in their life.  In September, the Department of Labor determined the unemployment rate at 9.1% nationally, meaning 14 million people in this country were without work.  Those are the people that are receiving unemployment benefits or are reporting to the government that they are still trying to find work.  They have been unemployed for less than 99 weeks.  Analysts believe that the real unemployment rate is along the lines of 18.09% in July of this year.  That's more than 28 million losers, according to Herman Cain.

This is why someone with no political experience has no business being in the White House.  Go back to making pizzas.

ESPN Drops Hank Williams Jr. From NFL Telecasts After He Calls Obama Hitler

Whether you are a country music fan or not, if you watch football, you know that Hank Williams Jr.'s 'All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight' is a staple of Monday nights.  The song has been the theme of Monday Night Football since 1991.  Well, according to a statement from ESPN today, hope you enjoyed it while it lasted, because you'll never hear it on the network again.

Why?  Because on this morning's Fox and Friends on Fox News, Williams compared President Obama to Adolf Hitler.  That's right.  Just watch:  (Sorry for the obligatory pre-clip advertisement.  It's beyond my control.)



Even the anchors from Fox and Friends had a puzzled look on their face.  Then again, why are you discussing politics with someone that calls himself "Bocephus"?  Can someone explain that name to me?  Is it an inside joke?  Am I not white enough to get it?

This afternoon, ESPN released the following statement:

“While Hank Williams, Jr. is not an ESPN employee, we recognize that he is closely linked to our company through the open to Monday Night Football.  We are extremely disappointed with his comments, and as a result we have decided to pull the open from tonight’s telecast.”

Who knows what Williams' political views really are.  Considering his comments today, it's probably not hard to guess.  I have never been a fan of his.  To me, he has always come across as somewhat racist - one of those people that glorify the South, and likely supports the flying of the Confederate flag.  Just look at the lyrics of his song, 'If the South Woulda Won'.  It's pretty easy to see where he stands.

I'm glad to see ESPN take a stand in this matter.  It may be a small step, but Williams is surely receiving a large sum in royalties from Monday Night Football broadcasts of his song.  Looks like the bulk of his income is going to be coming from county fairs and backwoods casino shows for a while.

Update:  According to TMZ, Williams has issued a statement regarding the comments made earlier today.  He isn't apologizing for what he said.  Rather, he's saying that his comments were "misunderstood":

"Some of us have strong opinions and are often misunderstood. My analogy was extreme – but it was to make a point. I was simply trying to explain how stupid it seemed to me - how ludicrous that pairing was."

He continues, "They’re polar opposites and it made no sense. They don’t see eye-to-eye and never will. I have always respected the office of the President.”

Williams Jr. adds, "Every time the media brings up the tea party it’s painted as racist and extremists – but there’s never a backlash – no outrage to those comparisons… Working class people are hurting – and it doesn’t seem like anybody cares. When both sides are high-fiving it on the ninth hole when everybody else is without a job – it makes a whole lot of us angry. Something has to change. The policies have to change.”

Nice try, but you're not getting your contact back anytime soon. 

Watch President Obama's Speech To The Human Rights Campaign (Video)

Last night, President Obama spoke at the 15th Annual National Dinner of the Human Rights Campaign.  The Human Rights Campaign has been on the front lines of the battle field for LGBT rights in recent years, and the President's comments at last night's dinner were highly anticipated.  The most often asked question leading up to his speech was, "Would he officially endorse marriage equality?".

While I'll discuss the specifics of his speech in greater detail tomorrow, I thought I would post the video of it this evening for those who were interested in watching.  For some reason, the video and audio are out of sync.  I apologize.

Joe Solmonese, the President of the HRC, delivered a wonderful introduction to President Obama.  Obama, for his part, started things off on the right foot by saying,

"I also took a trip out to California last week, where I held some productive, bi-lateral talks with your leader: Lady Gaga.  She was wearing 16 inch heels.  She was eight feet tall!"  

Video: Protester Calls Obama "Anti-Christ" During Fundraiser, Gets Dragged Away

At a fundraiser dinner for President Obama on Sunday night, his speech was interrupted by a man that started yelling about Jesus being "the only one true god".  He also called Obama the "Anti-Christ", before being dragged away by Secret Service personnel.

The event, which was held at the House of Blues in Los Angeles, had approximately 250 diners, each of whom had paid $1000 a plate to attend.  The protester, later identified as David Serrano, has a long history of creating disturbances with his religious, sometimes anti-Semitic, diatribes.  According to Tony Bell, a spokesman for the L.A. County Supervisor, Serrano has been a regular fixture at county meetings for a couple of years:

"He yells out his statements, which are very mistaken, odd interpretations of scriptures," Bell said. "He's been pretty close to being thrown out of our meetings. When he calls Supervisor Antonovich 'Mikey,' it's very vitriolic. He's not a pleasant guy. He talks about Jews in his diatribes and seems very anti-Semitic. I don't have the impression he's dangerous, but he has issues that could use some help.  

"He must have used some real initiative to get into that event. Our meetings are public forums." 

My question is, how did he get that close to the President?  He was reportedly in the first row.  Secret Service is supposed to have every guest vetted in advance.  You would think that Serrano's history with the city council would have come up, wouldn't it?  Even if he didn't have a criminal record, the event was being held in Los Angeles.  They didn't have anyone local review the list to check for any potential troublemakers? I don't understand how he got through.

Here is the video.  Obama's reaction is wonderful.  He smiles and tells Secret Service, "Don't forget his coat".
