Quote Of The Day - Gay Marriage Is Like WHAT?!

The Alliance Defending Freedom is a Scottsdale, Arizona group of 44 lawyers. While not yet technically an SPLC certified hate group, they have many board members that are affiliated with hate organizations.  Alliance has been getting a lot of media attention recently, because they're the group that drafted Arizona's SB 1062.  SB 1062 is the bill that allows businesses to deny service to individuals (gay folk), based on someone's "sincerely held beliefs".

MINI RANT

Every interview that I have read or seen with someone supporting this bill, the person being interviewed has repeated the term "sincerely held beliefs".  It's almost as if it has become some kind of catchphrase that Conservatives use instead of "homophobic".

Okay.  Mini rant over.

So, let me see if I understand this correctly.  Having to bake a cake or provide flowers for this:

What kind of fucked up world do you live in, where these are the first two examples that come to mind?  Koran burning and Klan rallies? Why on earth would anyone even do these horrible things to begin with?  Why would anyone force any of their employees, regardless of what their religion or ethnicity is, to participate in something like this?

That would be like....well...forcing one of your gay or lesbian employees to refuse service to a gay customer.

Christine O'Donnell Walks Out Of CNN Interview

Earlier this evening, former Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell walked out of an interview on CNN with Piers Morgan.  Morgan was asking her what her stance was on gay marriage and Don't Ask Don't Tell;  two topics that are covered in her new book, 'Troublemaker'.  She refused to answer the question.



Since she's not running for office, I guess she doesn't have "I am running for President of the United States" as an answer, like Bachmann.

CNN Host Lays The Smackdown On Gay Conservative Group

Finally, some journalistic integrity coming from CNN!  Early this morning, Ali Velshi spoke with GOProud's Chris Barron on CNN's American Morning.  Things got a little testy.

In case you're not familiar with Barron or his organization, GOProud is a conservative gay group.  They believe that their fiscal values as Republicans outweigh any social issues that come to the forefront regarding the LGBT community.  As a group, they are vehemently opposed to the overturn of DOMA and the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell.  Not because of what it stands for, but how they were reversed.  A repeal is a repeal, right?  Not to them.  Last year, the Keynote speaker at their convention was Ann Coulter.  She's the poster child for everything that's wrong with the Republican party.  Last month, when asked what she would do if her son came out as gay, she proudly said, "Obviously, I'd tell him he was adopted, and ask for help in redecorating the dining room".

Fast forward to today...



"When my partner and I talk about the issues that impact us, we're not talking about hate crimes.  We're talking about taxes."  If hate crimes aren't an issue that you and your partner discuss at the dinner table, let me fill you in on something......YOU'RE NOT FUCKING GAY!  If you are a gay man and are going to speak to Michele Bachmann, and the subject doesn't come up about her husband's "ex-gay reparative therapy" clinic, guess what?  YOU'RE NOT FUCKING GAY!

The fair tax?  Personal savings accounts?  When your priority is to protect your wallet before your civil liberties, then you may be a conservative, but you certainly aren't a part of the gay community.  "Gay conservative" is an oxymoron.  It doesn't exist.  The words aren't meant to go together.  It's much like "Amish IPhone app".  It doesn't make sense.

Rick Sanchez Fired By Jews Who Run CNN

Rick Sanchez is no stranger to controversy.  The journalist, and host of one of CNN's most popular programs, has had a history of making comments that rub some people the wrong way.  It appears that yesterday, Sanchez pissed off the wrong people, his bosses at CNN.

Sanchez was on the program Stand Up with Pete Dominick, on Sirius radio.  He took issue with Jon Stewart, calling him a "bigot".  He said,

"I think to some extent Jon Stewart and [Stephen] Colbert are the same way. I think Jon Stewart's a bigot," he said. "I think he looks at the world through, his mom, who was a school teacher, and his dad, who was a physicist or something like that. Great, I'm so happy that he grew up in a suburban middle class New Jersey home with everything you could ever imagine."

When Sanchez was asked who Stewart was bigoted against, he said, "everybody else who's not like him".  Sanchez eventually retracted his "bigot" claim, and said that instead Stewart was "prejudicial" and "uninformed".  He could have, and should have, left it at that.

It was what he said next that got him fired.  When Dominick said that Stewart could understand being part of an oppressed minority group, since he is Jewish, Sanchez said the following:

Very powerless people... [snickers] He's such a minority, I mean, you know [sarcastically]... Please, what are you kidding? ... I'm telling you that everybody who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart, and a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart, and to imply that somehow they -- the people in this country who are Jewish -- are an oppressed minority? Yeah. [sarcastically]

CNN officially fired Sanchez today, saying in a statement,

"Rick Sanchez is no longer with the company. We thank Rick for his years of service and we wish him well,'
