"The next step, I am sure, by the way, for the Occupy Wall Street crowd is for Anderson Cooper, Bill Maher, and Jon Stewart, the trifecta of conventional wisdom's failed liberalism, to come down to Wall Street and join the masses in demanding more of our tax money so they can all be supported as novelists and movie directors.
"You poor kids. You are basically asking to be supported and taken care of by Mommy and Daddy. Wake up, kids. Wall Street is you, with all of your wants and needs and wishes, only they have the balls to go out and work for it. Sometimes they are crooks and sometimes they are fools -- but you know what? On last night's 'Daily Show', Jon Stewart pointed out that many of the protesters in Liberty Park are saying things that are very similar to what Tea Party supporters were saying themselves.....back in 2009. But, if you ask a Tea Partier today what their opinion is of the masses gathered, demonstrating against corporate greed in New York City, they make it sound like it's a bunch of uneducated Nazi zombies.
"They probably don't even masturbate to the Constitution."
As some of you may know, during last Monday's episode of 'Dancing with the Stars', Nancy Grace had a "wardrobe malfunction". Her right breast was hanging out of her dress, on live television, for the better part of a minute.
Immediately, word of the nipple slip spread like wildfire. Every media outlet in the nation was reporting on the celebrity judge's embarrassing moment. Even Fox News weighed in on the controversy. Now, you would think that a woman's bare breast, shown repeatedly on national television would spark outrage by the pundits at Fox. After all 'Dancing with the Stars' is supposedly a program that is going to be seen by "many children". It airs at 7PM on Monday and Tuesday nights, on a network owned by the Disney corporation.
Not exactly. The story received all of a ten second mention. It was more along the lines of, "Supposedly this happened last night. I wasn't watching the show, so I can't tell you if it did or not." It was mentioned that Chaz Bono was dealing with a painful knee injury. To segue into the next segment, one of the anchors mocked Bono by saying, "That's one part of Chaz that hasn't been operated on."

The only new musical I have even heard of this year has been 'The Book of Mormon'. It's not that there hasn't been anything else that has come out. It's just that 'The Book of Mormon' is so good (from what I've read), that nothing else has come close to being on the critic's radar.
A collaboration between 'South Park's' Trey Parker and Matt Stone, along with 'Avenue Q's' Robert Lopez, 'Mormon' garnered 14 Tony nominations last week. That's one short of the record 15 nominations 'The Producers' received in 2001. 'The Daily Show's' Jon Stewart called 'Mormon', "so good it makes me fucking angry".
The story revolves around a pair of Mormon missionaries that are sent to Uganda to convert the villagers. One becomes overwhelmed, while the other attempts to teach the natives about god in a way in which they can relate to.
The cast recording becomes available on ITunes and in other digital formats next Tuesday, May 17. It's available in stores on June 7. I've had a chance to listen to a majority of the soundtrack, and let me just say, I want to fly to New York, just so I can see this musical. 'I Believe' is heartfelt, yet hilarious. It's akin to the old 'South Park' "This is what Mormons/Scientologists actually believe" gags, but sung by a Mormon missionary.
The best track of the musical is 'Hasa Diga Eebowai' Jon Stewart said of it, "When the aliens come thousands of years from now, it may exist as the only memory of Earth, and I gotta say, I’m happy to go down with it.” 'Hasa Diga Eebowai' is a spoof of the 'Lion King's' 'Hakuna Matata', except that it translates to "Fuck you, God". YOU MUST LISTEN TO IT! But, not at work, and not with little kids around. It's the first Tony nominated song I can think of that has the "C word" in it multiple times.
Take some time in the next day or two and check out the soundtrack. For those of you that like musicals, or like laughing at oddball religions, it will definitely be worth your time.
Rick Sanchez is no stranger to controversy. The journalist, and host of one of CNN's most popular programs, has had a history of making comments that rub some people the wrong way. It appears that yesterday, Sanchez pissed off the wrong people, his bosses at CNN.
Sanchez was on the program Stand Up with Pete Dominick, on Sirius radio. He took issue with Jon Stewart, calling him a "bigot". He said,
"I think to some extent Jon Stewart and [Stephen] Colbert are the same way. I think Jon Stewart's a bigot," he said. "I think he looks at the world through, his mom, who was a school teacher, and his dad, who was a physicist or something like that. Great, I'm so happy that he grew up in a suburban middle class New Jersey home with everything you could ever imagine."
When Sanchez was asked who Stewart was bigoted against, he said, "everybody else who's not like him". Sanchez eventually retracted his "bigot" claim, and said that instead Stewart was "prejudicial" and "uninformed". He could have, and should have, left it at that.
It was what he said next that got him fired. When Dominick said that Stewart could understand being part of an oppressed minority group, since he is Jewish, Sanchez said the following:
Very powerless people... [snickers] He's such a minority, I mean, you know [sarcastically]... Please, what are you kidding? ... I'm telling you that everybody who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart, and a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart, and to imply that somehow they -- the people in this country who are Jewish -- are an oppressed minority? Yeah. [sarcastically]
CNN officially fired Sanchez today, saying in a statement,
"Rick Sanchez is no longer with the company. We thank Rick for his years of service and we wish him well,'
