Video: Bristol Palin Gets Heckled While Taping Reality Show

While taping her reality show Thursday night at Hollywood's Saddle Ranch restaurant, America's favorite knocked up, home schooled snowbilly, Bristol Palin, got into a spat with a heckler.  While riding the mechanical bull - yes, the mechanical bull - a voice from the crowd yelled out, "Did you ride Levi like that?".  He then followed with, "Your mother's a whore", and, "Your mother is the fucking devil". (I starting to think this gentleman didn't vote McCain/Palin in 2008.)  Well, when Bristol was finished jiggling her big titties on national television, she straightened her "Empowered by Christ" sweater, and gave that guy a piece of her mind:

I just love how she automatically assumes the heckler is "homosexual".  Have you ever noticed how some people (usually Evangelical Christians or Republicans) use the word "homosexual" like it's a condition that makes you less human?  They refuse to use the terms "gay" or "lesbian".  It's disgusting.

Maybe the guy went a little too far, but it was nice to see someone put that privileged bigot in her place.

Oh, and for the record, Sarah Palin is a fucking whore...in the money grubbing, attention grabbing sense of the word.  I think that is something everyone can agree on.

Quote Of The Day

"If you're involved in the gay and lesbian lifestyle, it's bondage.  It is personal bondage, personal despair and personal enslavement.  And that's why this is so dangerous.  It's a very sad life.  It's part of Satan, I think, to say that it is gay.  It's anything but gay."
- Fuckwit and Republican presidential candidate, Michele Bachmann, speaking at Edwatch National Education Conference, November 6, 2004.

KETK Poll Fail

Yesterday, KETK, an NBC station out of Tyler, TX, conducted a day long poll asking viewers, "Will acceptance of gays be the downfall of America?"  They received hundreds of calls, mostly in favor of god fearing Christians.  Here is a clip from last night's newscast.  It's funny to see how uneducated these people are.  Even the people calling in to support us, saying that some guys are born with female brains....it's scientific fact.  It's just sad.

GLAAD has worked with the station in the last 24 hours.  They have since issued an apology for posing such an insensitive question.  The station manager is planning on going on air soon to denounce the piece.

The damage has already been done.

Anti-Gay Humor In New Vince Vaughn Movie

If you haven't seen the preview for Vince Vaughn's new movie, The Dilemma, you probably already know what to expect.  What you wouldn't expect in the first five seconds of the preview is a gay joke.  Check it out:

The Dilemma Trailer - Watch more Movie Trailers

After protests from a number of groups, including GLAAD, Universal claimed that they pulled the ad off of the internet and all theatres this previous weekend.  I happened to find the above video within 30 seconds.  In fact, when doing a Google search for the trailer, I was able to find the original trailer before finding the re-cut trailer that didn't have the joke.

If the recent wake of LGBT youth suicides has taught us anything, it's that words can hurt.  Faggot is the new N-word.  Universal would obviously never allow that joke with the word faggot, but gay was fine.  Likewise, they wouldn't have used the N-word in a joke, but they wouldn't use the word black either.

At this point, Universal is refusing to take the joke out of the movie.  GLAAD is petitioning the studio to remove the offensive content from the film before it's January release.  What can you do?

1. Take Action Now:  Click here to sign your name to an email to Universal Pictures and urge its representatives to remove offensive anti-gay language from the upcoming movie "The Dilemma"

Rick Sanchez Fired By Jews Who Run CNN

Rick Sanchez is no stranger to controversy.  The journalist, and host of one of CNN's most popular programs, has had a history of making comments that rub some people the wrong way.  It appears that yesterday, Sanchez pissed off the wrong people, his bosses at CNN.

Sanchez was on the program Stand Up with Pete Dominick, on Sirius radio.  He took issue with Jon Stewart, calling him a "bigot".  He said,
"I think to some extent Jon Stewart and [Stephen] Colbert are the same way. I think Jon Stewart's a bigot," he said. "I think he looks at the world through, his mom, who was a school teacher, and his dad, who was a physicist or something like that. Great, I'm so happy that he grew up in a suburban middle class New Jersey home with everything you could ever imagine."
When Sanchez was asked who Stewart was bigoted against, he said, "everybody else who's not like him".  Sanchez eventually retracted his "bigot" claim, and said that instead Stewart was "prejudicial" and "uninformed".  He could have, and should have, left it at that.

It was what he said next that got him fired.  When Dominick said that Stewart could understand being part of an oppressed minority group, since he is Jewish, Sanchez said the following:
Very powerless people... [snickers] He's such a minority, I mean, you know [sarcastically]... Please, what are you kidding? ... I'm telling you that everybody who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart, and a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart, and to imply that somehow they -- the people in this country who are Jewish -- are an oppressed minority? Yeah. [sarcastically]
CNN officially fired Sanchez today, saying in a statement,
"Rick Sanchez is no longer with the company. We thank Rick for his years of service and we wish him well,'
Have fun anchoring the news in Des Moines, Rick.

Transgendered Teen Denied Homecoming Crown

A trans high school student in Michigan was denied his crown as homecoming king, even though he had legitimately won the crown.  Oakleigh Reed (known as Oak), was told by his school principal that all votes for him had to be invalidated since he registered in school as a female.  This is despite the fact that school staff and students all refer to Oak as "he".  The school seemed to be comfortable with his status as a transgendered male.  Sadly, it appears that things are different when it comes to the race for homecoming king and queen.  The runner up was given the crown.

Conservative PAC Calls Transgendered Democratic Candidate "A Confused It"

Brittany Novotny

An e-mail from the Oklahoma Conservative Political Action Committee, a group backing Oklahoma State Rep. Sally Kern, contained one of the sickest and most vile political attacks seen in recent memory.  In part, the email called Democrat Brittany Novotny, Kern's transgendered opponent, "a confused it".  Here is an excerpt:

Brittany used to be a “he”, had a sex change operation to make him into a “her” but turned out to become a confused “it.” Some have suggested that having a sex change operation is a person’s greatest act of rebellion and hatred toward God for His making them what they were.

It is truly sad to see people reject God’s love for them by being willing to mutilate themselves. If they would submit their life to God, they could find the true the joy in life that will forever elude them while on their path of rebellion. The hatred and rage toward Sally continues unabated in the homosexual community because Sally dared to declare their political agenda for what it truly is, more dangerous to the future of America than the threat of terrorism.

Kern has a history of making bigoted, anti-gay comments.  Here is one from 2008:

“Here in America we’ve had what, maybe three known real big terrorist attacks on our nation,” Kern told Fox 25 in Oklahoma City recently. “But every day our young people especially, all of us, but our young people especially are in a sense bombarded with the message that homosexuality is normal and natural.”

If you would like to speak to Sally Kern directly, and let her know that intolerance is never a campaign platform (in Oklahoma or otherwise), the home phone number for her listed on her website is 405-942-3504.  Thank you.

9/11 Happened To Us All

On a personal note, I am happy to see that the Imam in New York City has not agreed to move the mosque near Ground Zero.  9/11 happened to us all...Christian, Muslim, and atheist.  The following is one of a series of commercials airing in the New York City area to try to ease anti-Islamic tensions.  It was hard for me to watch.  Got a little emotional actually.  It really brought the point home.

Bigotry In The News 12/13/2009

Brothels in Nevada have just won the legal right to start having male prostitutes as part of their stable. Numerous brothels in the state have been requesting the change for years, but due to language in the health code, it permitted females only until now. You see, the health code required a cervical exam as part of the regular STD testing mandatory for prostitutes, thus barring males. One word...."cervical".

Brothel industry lobbyists..yes, they exist, were fighting this tooth and nail, calling this the "Pearl Harbor" to the industry. In a shocking double standard, they said they worry that introducing males to the prostitution industry in Nevada would sully the reputation of the brothels in the state. Excuse me?!?! You're worried about the reputation of your local pimps and whores because of some gay men. Homophobes never cease to amaze me.

The wording in the health code has added the words or urethra to include the males of the profession. Local brothel owners say that their male workers will have the choice to have sex with either male or female customers, or both, just as their female "employees" do. Vegas in 2008 was the second most visited tourist destination for gay and lesbian vacationers behind New York City. This most recent move is a very smart business business decision to even the playing field with the businesses in the area that have been catering to the straight customer for decades too long, in my opinion.

VIVA LAS VEGAS, HONEY.

You can see the source article from the Las Vegas Sun here. This news is spreading like wildfire amongst the gay and lesbian blogs. In an online poll associated with the linked article, 82% of readers said that they found male prostitutes at brothels "socially acceptable"; much higher than what I was expecting. WAY TO GO, LAS VEGAS SUN READERS!!

Bigotry In The News 10/17/09 - Update

Ceara Sturgis, the young woman in Mississippi whose yearbook picture was pulled because she posed in a tuxedo, has received a ruling from the superintendent of her school board. The school board has decided to uphold their ruling, according to local news sources.

In a statement released Friday to the Copiah County Courier, school Superintendent Ricky Clopton said the district has no intention of reversing its decision. "We have had our legal counsel research the validity of the position of the School District on this matter," he said in the statement. "We are informed by counsel that this exact issue has been litigated in federal court. The decisions of the federal courts completely support the policy of the district in this regard. It is the desire of the Copiah County School District to inform, first, the patrons of the district, and second, all other interested parties, that its position is not arbitrary, capricious or unlawful, but is based upon sound educational policy and legal precedent."

They're treating this as a dress code issue, nothing more, completely ignoring the sexual orientation undertones of the story. Ceara was featured today in USA Today, and currently has a Facebook fan page, which, at the time of this post, is nearing 1100 fans. Good luck in your fight Ceara.

Bigotry In The News 10/17/09

Actually, these were stories from yesterday. By the time I came to writing this blog, it was almost 1am already, so I thought, "What the hell. It can wait till morning".

Top Story: Good 'Ol Boy Justice Of The Peace In Louisiana Refuses To Marry Interracial Couple

Keith Bardwell, Justice of the Peace of Tangipahoa Parish in Southeastern Louisiana, recently refused to marry an interracial couple. His grounds: the effect it would have on their children. Quote via the Huffington Post:

"I'm not a racist. I just don't believe in mixing the races that way," Bardwell told the Associated Press on Thursday. "I have piles and piles of black friends. They come to my home, I marry them, they use my bathroom. I treat them just like everyone else."

Bardwell said he has discussed the topic with blacks and whites, along with witnessing some interracial marriages. He came to the conclusion that most of black society does not readily accept offspring of such relationships, and neither does white society, he said.

"There is a problem with both groups accepting a child from such a marriage," Bardwell said. "I think those children suffer and I won't help put them through it."

Bardwell has been a justice of the peace since 1975, and admits to rejecting other interracial couples' attempts to get married by referring them to someone else that was willing to marry them. One problem: The Supreme Court ruled in 1967 "that the government cannot tell people who they can and cannot marry."...part of this thing called Civil Rights legislation that popped up in the mid 60s for this very reason.

Needless to say, people across Louisiana, and across the nation, are pissed. The Governor of Louisiana answered questions concerning Bardwell in a press conference yesterday. This man is an elected official. Last time he was elected, he ran unopposed, and he is scheduled to be in office until 2014. The ACLU is planning on filing a lawsuit. Expect to be hearing about this one for some time to come.

Story #2: High School Lesbian Left Out Of Yearbook For Wearing A Tuxedo

Ceara Sturgis is your typical, over achieving high school senior. She gets straight A's, she's goalie of her soccer team, she's active in the local chapter of Students Against Drunk Driving, and even plays trumpet in the school band. She's also an out and proud lesbian student. According to her mother, she isn't comfortable in "girlie" clothes, never has been.

So when it came time for senior pictures to be taken earlier this summer, Ceara had only one idea that came to mind: a tuxedo. It wasn't considered "cross-dressing" to her. It was being herself, and being comfortable in a picture that would speak for the four years she spent in high school.

Last month, Ceara and her mom were notified that the school
was refusing to print the picture in the yearbook. Once again, enter the champions at the ACLU. Neither the school or the school board have made one comment regarding the story, but this has obviously upset the LGBT community. The location? Mississippi. Why do these things always seem to happen in the South?
